You can even select a group automatically by 'pulling' on specific fields (you can even set up a number of unique custom fields in addition to the usual name, mobile number, etc.) ... Send a text containing a 25% off code to anyone who has 'Hampshire' in the 'county' field, for example, or send a survey to anyone who purchased a specific product.
Advanced Bulk Messaging
Sending out hundreds or thousands of messages at once is fine if you don't have to worry about handling responses immediately, but if the campaign requires an action and people to handle that action, then careful planning is required to ensure good customer service.
To handle this problem, 123-txt's Campaign Manager allows you to send out batches of messages over a certain time period, so you could send 100 messages out of a 10000 message campaign every hour to spread them out, allowing agents enough time to handle each response.
Run SMS Surveys
Create a text survey using our easy-to-use front-end. Recipients can answer individual questions by a series of text responses, or follow a customised short link to a web page. The SMS only option provides 'smart' survey functionality, so that second and subsequent questions can change dependent on results of the previous question - if user answered yes then ask him this question, if no then ask him a different question.
The results of each survey are collated into a dashboard and can be exported.
When sending web links in a text message, you can choose to send the full link, or use the automated TinyURL function, which will create a short url to save on characters used in the message. The TinyURL itself can be customised if required, allowing for a friendly and more recognisable branded link.
To make reporting on who did and didn't 'click' the link very easy, the system can be set to create a unique link per recipient.
Anti-Spamming and Message Priority Rules
In order to keep SMS subscribers happy, we've built in a number of customisable rules that ensure the number of messages sent are within a certain threshold. This is particularly useful for large organisations, where a subscriber may be on more than one 'mailing' list and could quickly get fed up with an endless stream of text messages.
To ensure important messages get through, a message priority level can be set ... so an 'account in arrears' message will always be sent and will take precedence over a simple marketing message.
Intelligent opt out/in functionality is built in, with STOP and START keywords.

If you prefer to run everything from your email, that's not a problem. 123-txt can be integrated fully with email, allowing text messages to be sent/received/both from within any email client. And yes, Short Codes, AlphA IDs and so on, all work just fine when using email integration.
